Sa pagtataya ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), 2,000 na lamang ang aktibong miyembro ng New People’s Army (NPA).
Kasabay ito sa pagbaba sa 23 mula sa 89 guerilla fronts noong 2016.
Sinabi ni AFP spokesman, Col. Medel Aguilar, ito ay 74 porsiyentong kabawasan sa puwersa ng binansagang teroristang grupo.
Dagdag pa ng opisyal, 25,000 tagasuporta ng NPA ang sumuko at nagbalik-loob na sa gobyerno.
Ang mga namuno sa AFP sa ilalim ng administrasyong-Duterte ay sinabi na malapit na ang katapusan ng NPA.
