Ayon kay Agriculture Undersecretary Fermin Adriano, nagpalabas na ng executive order si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na nagbaba sa taripa ng imported na bigas sa India.
Mula sa 50 percent, ibinaba ito sa 35 percent ang taripa.
Una rito, inanunsyo ng Thailand na nakipagkasundo na sila sa Vietnam para taasan ang production costs ng bigas.
Ang Vietnam at Thailand ang bumubuo sa 10 percent rice supply sa buong mundo.
