Simula sa darating na Hunyo 29, aaktong Senate President Pro Tempore si Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri.
Ito ay matapos siyang ihalal ng mga kapwa senador base sa resolusyon na binasa ni Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon.
Ipinaliwanag naman agad ni Zubiri na ginawa nila ang hakbang para magtuloy-tuloy ang ‘administrative functions’ ng Senado.
“So it is really an officer-in-charge post and we will subject ourselves again to an election once we come back on the last Monday of July,” ani Zubiri.
Isa mga pangunahing magiging responsibilidad ni Zubiri ay pagpirma ng mga tseke para sa suweldo ng mga empleado ng Senado.
Nagtapos na ang termino ni Senate President Vicente Sotto III dahil kabilang siya sa ‘graduating senators.’
Samantalang si Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto naman ay magiging miyembro ng Mababang Kapulungan.
Inaasahan na sa pagbubukas ng 19th Congress, si Zubiri na ang mamumuno sa Senado kapalit ni Sotto.
