Panggugulo ng NPA sa Semana Santa naudlot, 2 rebelde patay
Naniniwala ang AFP na napigilan ang pagtatangka ng New People’s Army (NPA) na guluhin ang paggunita ng Semana Santa nang makasagupa ng puwersa ng gobyerno ang isang grupo ng mga rebelde sa Lanuza, Surigao del Sur.
Sinabi ni Army 36th Infantry Battalion commander, Lt. Col. Michael Reuyan, makalipas ang 10 minutong bakbakan sa Barangay Agsam, dalawa sa mga rebelde ang napatay.
Narekober sa lugar ang dalawang armas, mga bala at mga pagkain.
Sinabi pa ni Reuyan na ang operasyon ay base sa impormasyon mula sa mga komunidad ukol sa presensiya ng mga rebelde.
“We are thankful with the support and information given by the locals and communities of Lanuza, Surigao Sur. This articulates that the growing support of the communities is a response that they don’t want the Communist Terrorist Group in their area,” sabi pa ng opisyal.
Kasabay nito ang kanyang panawagan sa mga natitirang rebelde na sumuko na lamang at magbalik-loob sa pamahalaan.
