Tama lamang ang pahayag ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na isang weak leader si presidential candidate Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.
Ayon kay senatorial candidate Teodoro “Teddy” Brawner Baguilat Jr., pinatutunayan lamang ni Marcos ang pahayag ni Pangulong Duterte na hindi akma na maging Pangulo ng bansa dahil sa hindi pagdalo sa mga pulitikal na debate.
“[Marcos Jr.’s] non-appearance and non-presentation of his platform only reinforce the narrative that he is indeed a weak leader,” pahayag ni Baguilat.
Kumakandidato si Baguilat sa pagka-senador sa ilalim ng partido ni Vice President Leni Robredo na mahigpit na katunggali ni Marcos.
“If [Marcos Jr.’s] handlers and trolls are applauding the move as a brilliant smart strategy, they better think twice because the old man in Malacañang is thinking otherwise,” pahayag ni Baguilat.
Matatandaang hiniling ni Marcos sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) na ilahad ang format bago dumalo sa debate.
Ayon kay Baguilat, dahil sa hindi pagdalo ni Marcos sa mga debate, nawawalan ito ng tsansa na depensahan ang sarili kaugnay sa mga alegasyon laban sa kanya.
Inihalimbawa ni Baguilat si Pangulong Duterte na dinalihan ang lahat ng debate noong 2016 presidential elections.
Nanawagan din si Baguilat sa ibang media organizations na magsagawa ng debate para mabigyan ng sapat na edukasyon at magabayan ang mga botante sa pagpili ng tamang kandidato.
“The pandemic has denied us full access to information in the real world and forced us to rely on news streamed through social media platforms that have been compromised,” pahayag ni Baguilat.
Ayon kay Baguilat, bagamat confrontational ang debate, napag-iisa naman nito ang mga kandidato para makilatis ng mga botante.
