DOT: 1.1-M tourism workers, apektado ng travel restrictions dahil sa COVID-19 pandemic

Inihayag ng Department of Tourism (DOT) na umabot sa mahigit 1.1 milyong tourism worker ang naapektuhan ng ipinatupad na travel restrictions bunsod ng COVID-19 pandemic.

“Dahil sa pandemya, mga 1.1 million na nagtatrabaho sa tourism ang naapektuhan, nawalan ng trabaho,” saad ni Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat sa Laging Handa public briefing.

Umaasa naman aniyang magkakaroon na muli ng trabaho ang mga apektadong tourism worker sa muling pagbubukas ng borders ng Pilipinas sa mga dayuhang turista na fully vaccinated laban sa COVID-19.

“So we hope that.. ngayon syempre may domestic tourism. And with the reopening of the Philippines for foreign visa-free countries, magkakatrabaho na ‘yung mga nawalan ng trabaho,” saad nito.

Simula sa araw ng Huwebes, February 10 binuksan ang bansa para sa mga dayuhang turista na bakunado kontra sa nakahahawang sakit.
