SIM Card Registration Bill malapit ng maging batas
Naratipikahan na sa Senado ang bicameral committee report ng mga panukala sa Senado at Kamara para sa pagpaparehistro ng SIM cards.
Sinabi ni Sen. Grace Poe, namumuno sa Senate Committee on Public Services, napagkasunduan na ang mga pagkakaiba sa Senate Bill No. 2395 at House Bill No. 5973 o ang SIM Card Registration Act.
“The bicameral conference committee agreed to use the House version as the working draft but made use of a lot of the Senate provisions,” sabi ni Poe sa kanyang mga kapwa senador.
Aniya kabilang sa napagkasunduan ng mga mambabatas mula sa dalawang Kapulungan ng Kongreso ay gawing bahagi ng mandato ng public telecommunications entities (PTEs) ang pagpaparehistro sa SIM cards bago ito ibenta at magamit ng subscriber.
Gayundin, kinakailangan na gumamit ng totoong pangalan at phone number sa paggawa ng social media accounts.
Pagtitiyak din ni Poe na ang lahat ng mga detalye sa pagpaparehistro ng subscribers ay mananatiling confidential habang nasa database ng PTEs.
“We hope that by legislating this measure, we would be able to eradicate mobile phone, internet or electronic communication-aided criminal activities. This has been a long time coming but I hope that the passage of this bill will result in a safer and more secure mobile-use and cyberspace here in our country,” dagdag pa ng senadora.
