PNP, nagtalaga ng 133 media security vanguards para protektahan ang mga mamamahayag
Nagtalaga ang Philippine National Police (PNP) ng 133 police communicators na magsisilbi bilang media security vanguards ng Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS).
Magmumula ang Public Information Officers sa Police Regional Offices, Police Provincial Offices, at City Police Offices at National Headquarters.
Sila ang kikilos sa mga isyu na may kinalaman sa seguridad ng mga mamamahayag na magco-cover ng 2022 National and Local Elections, at iba pang nakakatanggap ng mga banta.
Inatasan ni PNP Chief, Police General Dionardo Carlos si Chief PIO, Police Brig. Gen. Roderick Alba bilang head focal person sa National Headquarters katuwang ang PTFoMS.
Naglabas din ng direktiba si Carlos sa lahat ng 1,890 na Chief of Police na pamunuan ang operasyon ng PNP Media Security Vanguards sa mga iba’t ibang lugar sa bansa.
“The PNP recognizes the role of media in raising the level of awareness in the coming elections. Media practitioners are sources of relevant information as the country battles misinformation and disinformation that disrupts the delivery of the truth,” saad ng hepe ng pambansang pulisya.
Dagdag nito, “With the possible escalation of political tensions ahead of the May 2020 polls, the media may be caught in the middle of political rivalry and conflict, so there is an urgent need to provide that mantle of protection.”
