Sen. Francis Tolentino: Kailangan bumuo ng Siargao Tourism Rehabilitation Commission
Naghain ng resolusyon si Senator Francis Tolentino at nanawagan kay Pangulong Duterte na bumuo ng Siargao Tourism Rehabilitation Commission para sa rehabilitasyon ng Siargao Island.
Ayon kay Tolentino ang pagbuo ng komisyon ay bahagi naman ng kapangyarihan ng pangulo ng bansa base sa Administrative Code of the Philippines.
Sa inihain niyang Senate Resolution No. 966, ipinaliwanag ni Tolentino na ang Commission ang mangangasiwa sa lahat ng mga gagawing hakbang alinsunod sa rehabilitation and recovery programs.
Base sa pahayag ng mga lokal na opisyal ng Surigao del Norte, tinatayang aabot sa P20 bilyong ang halaga ng pinsalang tinamo ng Siargao Island bagamat ang kabuuang epekto na idinulot ng nagdaang bagyong Odette ay hindi pa nasasa-pinal dahil sa hirap na linya ng komunikasyon.
“In addition to the immediate critical needs of the affected residents such as food, water, shelter, and health care, the long-term rehabilitation and rebuilding of the affected homes, businesses, and other infrastructures in Siargao Island must also be addressed,” diin ni Tolentino.
Sa resolusyon, binanggit ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Local Government na ang Commission ay bubuuin ng Secretary of Tourism; Chief Operating Officer ng Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA); Chairperson ng Regional Development Council for Caraga Region; isang urban planner mula sa pribadong sektor; at isang kinatawan mula sa Philippine Hotel Owners Association, Inc. bilang mga miyembro.
Samantalang magsisilbing ex officio member naman ang gobernadora ng Surigao del Norte.
