15M solo parents makikinabang sa Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Bill

Halos 15 milyong solo parents sa bansa ang makikinabang sa mga karagdagang benepisyo at suporta mula sa gobyerno matapos maipasa sa Senado ang Expanded Solo Parents Bill.

 

Ito ang sinabi ni Sen. Richard Gordon, ang pangunahing may-akda ng panukala.

 

“Napaka-timely ng batas na ito. It shows the mind of liberality we have, the society we have, the kind of caring, the kind of humanitarian sentiments we have for those who have been dealt a wrong set of cards or have become widowed,” sabi ni Gordon.

 

Sabi pa niya; “Ang Senado ng Pilipinas, ang Kongreso ng Pilipinas ay hindi insensitive at handang tumulong at napakalaking bagay sa mga anak ng solo parent sapagkat sila ay lalaki nang may suporta, may konting ayuda at konting recognition.”

 

Base sa datos ng World Health Organization (WHO), may 15 milyong solo parents sa bansa, 95 porsiyento o higit 14 sa kanila ay kababaihan.

 

Ayon pa kay Gordon, kapag naging ganap na batas ang panukala, magkakaroon na ng 20% discount sa tuition, hospital bills at gamot ang mga solo parents, bukod pa sa prayoridad sa child care, parental leave, at housing benefits.

 

Bukod pa diyan ang P1,000 financial aid sa indigent solo parents.
