Fake news, COVID 19 variant sa social media – Sen. Kiko Pangilinan
Mabilis na humahawa ang ‘disinformation, misinformation at hate speech’ sa social media at ayon kay Senator Francis Pangilinan, ang mga ito ay maituturing na ‘digital COVID 19 variants.
Ngayon araw ay may pagdinig ang Senate Committee on Constitutional Amendments, na pinamumunuan ni Pangilinan, at inaasahan na matatalakay ang mga batas-kriminal kaugnay sa pag-usbong ng mga social media platforms, gayundin ang mabilis na pagbabago ng teknolohiya.
“’Disinformation, misinformation, hate speech, and mass deception through coordinated mass distribution of fake news are digital wildfires, which destroy trust and confidence in our democracy and democratic institutions such as the independent and free press,” aniya.
Dagdag pa ng running mate ni presidential aspirant Leni Robredo; “Professionals engaged in delivering news, content, and information through a free and independent press must not be targets of disinformation and hate speech. We need them to do their jobs conscientiously to enable our democracy to function optimally.”
Aniya walang pinipiling target ang mga nagpapakalat ng mga maling impormasyon.
Panawagan niya sa lahat, anuman ang kanilang paniniwalang political, na magkaisa sa paglaban sa pagpapakalat ng fake news sa social media.
“We must all roll back and conquer the digital dark age. This is our shared responsibility,” dagdag pa ni Pangilinan.
