2022 budget ng Philippine Sports Commission dahil sa EJ Obiena case

Pinabawi ni Senator Pia Cayetano ang pondo ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) para sa susunod na taon dahil sa kaso ni Olympic pole vaulter EJ Obiena at Philippine Athletics Track and Field Associations (PATAFA).

“The reason I am asking for the recall of the budget of PSC is because it took a hands-off approach. They said ‘work it out.’ How can you do that to your national athlete?’ sabi ni Cayetano.

Pagdidiin ni Cayetano dapat ay pinahahalagahan ang mga pambansang atleta.

Ito ay sinegundahan naman ni Senator Richard Gordon sa pagsasabing; “Here we are saying that our athlete is corrupt? My gosh! I think there’s got to be something done about this. There’s got to be some breaks applied because they’re out of control.”

Magugunita na inakusahan ng PATAFA si Obiena ng hindi pagbabayad sa kanyang coach na si Vitaly Petrov, bagay na itinanggi na ng atleta.

Inakusahan din ang 11th finisher sa 2020 Tokyo Olympics nang pando-‘doktor’ ng liquidation reports at inatasan na isauli ang higit P4.8 milyon sa PATAFA.

Mariin nang itinanggi ni Obiena ang mga akusasyon sa kanya at naghain na rin ito ng pormal na reklamo sa Philippine Olympic Commission, International Olympic Committee at World Athletics laban sa PATAFA.

Nagbilin din si Senator Joel Villanueva sa PATAFA na resolbahin ang isyu sa pinakamadaling panahon.
