Sen. Koko Pimentel sinabing dapat kasahan ng diplomatic protest ang China
Dapat ay maghain ang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ng matinding diplomatic protest laban sa China kaugnay sa panibagong insidente sa West Phillipine Sea.
“’Diplomatic protest is in order. But since there has been ‘physical contact,’ DFA should draft a strongly worded protest,’’ diin ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
Ginamitan ng water cannon ng Chinese Coast Guard ang dalawang supply vessels na magdadala dapat ng suplay ng mga tauhan ng Philippine Marines na nagbabantay sa Ayungin Shoal.
Diin ni Pimentel na dapat ay iniiwasan ng mga partido sa agawan sa West Philippine Sea ang ‘physical contact’ dahil maaring maging ugat ito ng mas komplikadong sitwasyon.
Sabi pa ng senador dapat ay magkaroon ng plano ang Department of National Defense at Philippine Coast Guard kung paano mapapaigting ang presensiya ng bansa sa teritoryo na malinaw na pag-aari ng Pilipinas para na rin maprotektahan ang mga Filipino na nakikinabang sa yamang-dagat.
