BI, muling ilulunsad ang E-gate project para sa mga pauwing Pinoy sa Pasko
Inanunsiyo ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) na muling ilulunsad ang Electronic Gate System (EGate) project para sa mga Filipinong pauwi galing abroad sa holiday season.
Layon nitong mapadali ang immigration processing time ng mga biyahero at maiwasan ang mahahabang pila sa mga paliparan.
Ayon kay Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, ipinag-utos na sa BI port operations division (POD) na buhayin ang E-gate scheme sa nalalapit na Christmas season sa Disyembre.
Unang inilunsad ang naturang proyekto noong August 2018. Sinuspinde ito noong March 2020 nang tumama ang COVID-19 pandemic.
Ani Morente, sa patuloy na pagbaba ng kaso ng COVID-19 sa bansa, maaring muling ilunsad ng ahensya ang proyekto.
“We are also implementing strict regular disinfection of the area to prevent transmission,” pahayag ni Morente.
Mula sa 45 segundo, mapapababa sa pamamagitan ng e-gates sa 15 hanggang walong segundo ang processing time ng mga pasahero.
Maliban sa biometic scanning, may iba pa itong modernong security features tulad ng facial recognition, bar code reading, at smart card recognition.
Kaya rin nitong ma-detect ang mga pasahero na may derogatory records, kabilang ang mga puganteng dayuhan at mga kabilang sa immigration blacklist, watch list at departure list.
Ayon naman kay Atty. Carlos Capulong, BI acting ports operations chief, nagbaba na siya ng direktiba sa kaniyang technical staff para sa inisyal na pagsasagawa ng dry run ng e-gates sa the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) bago ang full operation nito sa pagtatapos ng Nobyembre.
“These e-gates are intended only for Filipinos, especially returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs),” ani Capulong at dagdag pa nito, “However, children, senior citizens on wheelchairs and other handicapped travelers may be serviced by a special lane.”
Mayroon ding naka-install na e-gates sa international airports sa Clark, Pampanga at Mactan, Cebu.
