Nakakulong na Somalian, Korean national sa BI facility mahaharap sa drug charges
Hahaba pa ang panahon sa kulungan ng isang Somalian at isang South Korean matapos mahulihan ng ilegal na droga sa loob ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) Warden Facility (WF).
Ipinag-utos ni BI Commissioner Jaime Morente ang pagsasampa ng criminal charges laban kina Ali Osman Mohamed, 37-anyos, at Nam Sangmin, 42-anyos, matapos magtangkang mag-smuggle at mamahagi ng hinihinalang methamphetamine sa loob ng pasilidad.
Napaulat na nagtangkang mag-abutan ng ilegal na droga ang dalawa sa pamamagitan ng paglalagay nito sa loob ng sigarilyo.
“Officer Jayson Atienza noticed Mohamed acting suspiciously, who insisted on passing a pack of cigarettes to Nam,” pahayag ni BIWF Officer-in-Charge Jan Kevin Gomez.
Nang isailalim sa inspeksyon, nadiskubre ang isang pakete ng ‘white crystal-like substance’ na nakatago sa loob nito.
Hinala ni Gomez, naipasok ang ilegal na droga sa pagkain o suplay na inabot ng mga bisita ng dalawang dayuhan.
Ani Gomez, nakikipag-ugnayan na sila sa mga awtoridad upang imbestigahan kung may kasabwat ang dalawang dayuhan sa labas ng pasilidad.
“We are investigating how the suspects managed to get hold of the drug supply despite strict screening of food items and supplies delivered to the wards through courier service. The screening includes the use of K9 or dog sniffers that can detect the presence of drugs in packages. We are also conducting an investigation inside the facility to see if there are any other detainees involved in this unscrupulous activity,” dagdag nito.
Naaresto si Mohamed dahil sa pagiging undesirable alien noong 2019 habang si Nam naman ay nahuli sa Pampanga noong 2018 dahil sa kinakaharap na kaso sa South Korea.
“Drug activities will not prosper in our watch,” pahayag ni Morente at dagdag nito, “These illegal aliens have added more to their already long list of violations. Apart from their deportation charges, they will face criminal charges as well.”
Sa ngayon, dumadaan ang dalawang dayuhan sa inquest proceedings.
