Voter’s registration extension bill lumusot sa Senado, Kamara

Naaprubahan na sa third and final reading sa Mababang Kapulungan ang panukala para palawigin ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang isinasagawang voter’s registration.

 

Layon ng House Bill 10261 na mapalawig ang pagpaparehistro ng 30 araw.

 

Iniakda nina House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco, Majority Leader Martin Romualdez at Minority Leader Joseph Stephen Paduano ang panukalang-batas.

 

Nabatid na sinang-ayunan ng lahat ng 193 mambabatas na dumalo sa regular session kanina ang panukala.

 

“We hope the Comelec will use the one-month extension to ramp up voter registration and ensure that more people can vote next year because we cannot afford to disenfranchise voters,” sabi ni Velasco.

 

Sa Senado, naaprubahan na rin sa third and final reading ang katulad na panukala.

 

Ang mga pumirma sa Senate Bill 2408 ay sina Senate President Vicente Sotto III, President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto, Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, Minority Leader Franklin Drilon, Sens. Sonny Angara, Nancy Binay, Pia Cayetano, Leila de Lima, Ronald  Dela Rosa, Win Gatchalian, Christopher Go, Richard Gordon, Risa Hontiveros, Panfilo Lacson, Lito Lapid, Imee Marcos, Manny Pacquiao, Francis  Pangilinan, Grace   Poe, Ramon Bong Revilla Jr., Francis  Tolentino, Joel Villanueva, at Cynthia  Villar.
