Ex-Palace exec na isinasangkot sa ‘overpriced’ masks, face shield ipinatawag ng Senado
Inaprubahan na ni Senate Vicente Sotto III ang Subpoena Ad Testificandum na inihanda ni Senator Richard Gordon para humarap si dating Budget Undersecretary Lloyd Christopher Lao sa pagpapatuloy ng pagdinig ng Blue Ribbon Committee sa Miyerkules, Agosto 25.
Ang pagdalo ni Lao ay para bigyan linaw ang sinasabing ‘overpricing’ sa biniling masks at face shields ng pinamunuan nitong Procurement Service ng Department of Budget and Management noong nakaraang taon.
“He will be asked to explain the circumstances of such procurement. It is important that he appears because there are so many questions that need answers especially, he was previously investigated over procurement of overpriced medical supplies and equipment as Usec. Canda said,” sabi ni Gordon, ang namumuno sa Blue Ribbon Committee.
Nabanggit pa ng senador na nakakuha siya ng kumpirmasyon sa Bureau of Immigration na nasa bansa lang si Lao at aniya indikasyon ito na tutulong ito sa pagbusisi ng Senado sa isyu.
Sa kanyang naunang paglutang, itinanggi ni Lao na may anomalya sa pagbili ng mga masks at face shields sa katuwiran na kapos ang suplay ng mga ito kayat mataas ang mga presyo.
Nagpahayag din siya ng kahandaan na humarap sa Senado.
