P86-M halaga ng smuggled na sibuyas, nasamsam sa Subic

Nasabat ng Bureau of Customs Port of Subic, sa pamamagitan ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) Field Station at Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) Subic District Command, ang 23 forty-footer containers ng pulang sibuyas mula sa China.

Naka-consign ang mga container sa isang Duar Te Mira at dumating ng dalawang batch.

Unang idineklara ang P86.250 milyong shipment bilang chapatti bread.

Pagdating ng unang 11 containers noong July 9, naglabas si Subic District Collector Maritess Martin ng pre-lodgment control order upang maberipika ang natanggap na derogatory information ukol sa shipment.

Matapos ang physical examination, sa halip na chapatti bread, mga pulang sibuyas ang tumambad sa mga awtoridad na tinatayang nagkakahalaga ng P41.250 milyon.

“The Modus Operandi of smuggling attempts is usually thru splitting of cargoes. We monitored the manifests of incoming ships, and identified several containers also consigned to Duar Te Mira,” paliwanag ni CIIS Subic Chief Verne Enciso.

Kasunod nito, inalerto na ng BOC ang pagdating ng ikalawang batch ng mga container.

Pagdating ng 12 forty-footer containers noong July 13, mga pulang sibuyas din ang laman nito kung saan umabot naman sa P45 milyon ang halaga.
