Sen. Imee Marcos hiniling ang one-year suspension sa 12% VAT sa mga produktong petrolyo
Nanawagan si Senator Imee Marcos sa hindi pagsingil ng isang taon sa 12 porsiyentong value added tax (VAT) sa mga produktong petrolyo bunga ng pandemya dulot ng COVID 19.
Ginawa ni Marcos ang panawagan matapos ang pagtaas muli ng gasoline ng P1.15 kada litro sa gasolina at P0.60 kada litro naman sa krudo at P0.65 sa kerosene.
Mula noong Enero, tumaas na ng P13 ang bawat litro ng gasoline, P10 sa krudo at P9 sa kerosene.
Aniya kung sususpindihin ang paniningil ng VAT sa mga produktong-petrolyo ay malaking tulong ito sa mga motorista.
“Oil price hikes have a domino effect on agricultural products and other essentials. The higher costs will be passed on to the ordinary consumer who may still not have a job but has no choice but to deal with rising prices of food, electricity, and other goods,” ayon sa namumuno sa Senate Committee on Economic Affairs.
Ang 12 porsiyentong VAT ay sininghil sa mga produktong-petrolyo bilang dagdag sa excise tax sa ilalim ng Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law, na pinirmahan ni Pangulong Duterte noong 2017.
