Sen. Win Gatchalian nagbabala sa bagong online shopping scam
Pinag-iingat ni Senator Sherwin Gatchalian ang publiko kaugnay sa bagong mobile at online shopping scam.
Nanawagan na rin si Gatchalian sa Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), National Privacy Commission at NBI na imbestigahan ang tinatawag na ‘SMSishing’ o ‘phishing’ sa pamamagitan ng text message.
“Scammers, owing to the technological advances that are evolving at a fast pace these past few years, have become more innovative in carrying out their nefarious activities. Our laws should also keep up with the times and be responsive to the needs and concerns of the public,” sabi ng vice chairman ng Senate Economic Affairs Committee.
Binanggit nito na may mga ulat na ginagaya ng gumagawa ng modus ang official SMS account ng Lazada para magpadala ng text message para sabihin ang pagkakapanalo ng premyo.
Ngunit kinakailangan din na may bayaran para makuha ang premyo at ang bayad ay sa pamamagitan ng credit card.
Ang mga ganitong scam, ayon kay Gatchalian, ang dahilan kayat patuloy niyang itinutulak ang inihain niyang panukala para sa pagpaparehistro ng prepaid SIM cards.
