Moratorium para sa bagong nursing programs ipinahihinto sa CHED

Hiniling ni House Committee on Health chairperson Angelina Tan sa Commission on Higher Education (CHED) na payagan nang muling magbukas ng bagong mga programa para sa nursing. Ito’y bunsod ng kakulangan ng mga nurse sa bansa sa gitna ng COVID-19 pandemic. Sa kanyang privilege speech, hinimok rin ni Tan ang Kamara na muling bisitahin ang moratorium na laman ng CHED Memorandum Order No. 32 na ipinalabas noong 2010. Iginiit ng kongresista na napakahalaga ng papel ng nurses sa health care system hindi lang sa paghahatid ng de-kalidad na serbisyong pangkalusugan kundi maging sa pagkamit ng Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Bago pa man aniya ang pandemya, walang nursing workforce ang buong mundo na sapat sa universal health coverage at SDG targets. Kaya naman naniniwala ang mambabatas na ngayon ang tamang panahon para i-assess ng CHED kung angkop pa ang kaninang memorandum.
