Dalawang OFW na ilegal na na-recruit sa trabaho sa Qatar, naharang sa NAIA
Naharang ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) ang dalawang Filipina na ilegal na na-recruit para sa trabaho sa Qatar.
Sa report kay BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, sinabi ni Travel Control and Enforcement Unit Chief Ma. Timotea Barizo na naharang ang mga pasahero sa departure area ng NAIA Terminal 3 nang sumakay sa isang flight ng Qatar Airways.
“The quick eye of our immigration officers in the frontlines saw that there was reason to suspect the duo, upon noticing that their Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs) are not encoded in our linked database with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA),” ani Barizo.
Bilang protocol, dinala ang dalawa sa POEA Labor Assistance Center (LAC) ng terminal para iberipika ang kanilang mga dokumento.
Dito nadiskubre na pineke ang mga dokumento.
Inamin naman ng mga biktima na ang kanilang OEC validation forms ay binigay lamang ng kanilang handler malapit sa exit ng paliparan.
Sinabi pa ng dalawa na nagbayad sila ng P35,000 kapalit ng mga nakuha nilang dokumento.
“Securing the proper documents and clearances from the POEA is crucial for all aspiring OFWs to protect them from abusive companies and employers,” paalala ni Barizo.
Babala naman ni Morente, “This should now serve as a warning to syndicates who may have falsely believed that the bureau has become lenient in screening documents during the pandemic.”
Dinala ang mga biktima sa Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) para sa masusing imbestigasyon at tulong.
