Direct cash assistance sa mga magsasaka, mangingisda nais ni Sen. de Lima

Naghain ng panukala sa Senado si Senator Leila de Lima na layong mabigyan ng cash assistance ang mga maliliit na magsasaka at mangingisda na labis nang apektado ng pandemya.

Paliwanag ni de Lima, sa kanyang Senate Bill No. 2100, magkakaroon ng COVID-19 emergency cash grant sa mga magsasaka at mangingisda na namumuhay sa ibaba pa ng poverty line.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has not only severely impacted our public health, but has also debilitated many industries and has caused our economy to go into recession. Among the worst hit economic sectors are those of the farming and fishing industries, particularly small-scale farmers and municipal fisherfolk,” sabi ng senadora.

Binanggit nito na bago pa ang pandemya at base sa datos ng Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) noong 2018, ang mga magsasaka at mangingisda ang dalawa sa pinakamahirap na sektor, sa 31.6 at 26.2 porsiyento sa usapin ng poverty incidence rate.

Base pa rin sa panukala ni de Lima, ang mga mahihirap na magsasaka at mangingisda na nakarehistro sa Department of Agriculture ay tatanggap ng P1,000 cash grant kada buwan sa loob ng isang taon.
