Santiary landfill sa Urdaneta, Pangasinan ipinasara ng DENR

Ipinasara ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources ang isang sanitary landfill facility sa Barangay Catablan Urdaneta, Pangasinan.

Ayon sa utos ni Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu, nakitaan ng paglabag sa environmental laws gaya ng Republic Act  9003 at 9275 o the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004 ang Urdaneta City Engineered Sanitary Landfill.

Nabatid na dalawang beses nang binigyan ng cease and desist order ang 18,000 square meter landfill noong Enero  para ipatigil ang operasyon dahil sa mga paglabag sa environmental laws.

Nagsagawa rin ng surprise inspection si Environment Undersecretary Benny Antiporda noong Enero 27 at binigyan ng pagkakataon ang management na ayusin ang operasyon ng hanggang Pebrero 2021.

Pero sa follow up inspection, nabatid na hindi sumunod ang pamunuan ng landfill sa mga itinakdang reporma dahilan para tuluyang ipasara.
