Mga panukalang buwisan ang POGO suportado ng mga senador

Malaking tulong sa pakikipagharap ng bansa ang buwis na maaring makolekta sa operasyon ng Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
Sinabi ni Sen. Sonny Angara ang malilikom na buwis mula sa POGOs ay magagamit sa universal health care, pensyon sa mga sundalo at libreng edukasyon sa kolehiyo.
Aniya malaki ang potensyal na lumago ang industriya ng offshore gaming sa Pilipinas.
“Money doesn’t grow on trees; we have to find it somewhere,” sabi ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Finance at dagdag pa niya,“I think this is a possible area, really, to generate revenues especially in this difficult economic environment.”
Sinabi naman ni Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto, may akda ng Senate Bill No. 1295, ang panukala para sa pagbuo ng ‘tax regime’ sa POGOs, dapat noong 2019, kumita ang gobyerno sa POGO ng P38 bilyon.
Natalakay din ng Committee on Ways and Means na pinamumunuan ni Sen. Pia Cayetano ang Senate Bill No. 2076 na inihain ni Sen. Imee Marcos.
Paliwanag ni Marcos, layon ng kanyang panukala na magkaroon ng malinaw na batas para sa pagbubuwis sa POGOs, gayundin sa mga nagta-trabaho sa industriya.
