Sen. Leila de Lima inihirit ang pag-iimbestiga sa pagkaubos ng passport fund

Nanawagan si Senator Leila de Lima na maimbestigahan sa Senado ang napaulat na pagkaubos ng Passport Revolving Fund (PRF) ng Department of Foreign Affairs.

Inilaan ang pondo para pagandahin ang passport at consular services ng kagawaran.

Sa Senate Resolution No. 629 ni de Lima, idiniin ng senadora na karapatan ng publiko na malaman ang dahilan ng pagkaubos ng pondo, na mismong si Foreign Affairs Sec. Teddyboy Locsin Jr., ang nagbunyag.

Iginiit ng senadora na dapat ay malaman kung paano at saan ginamit ang PRF at mapanagot ang mga responsable sakaling lumabas na ginagamit ito sa ibang bagay bukod sa nakasaad sa batas.

Sa social media account ni Locsin noong Enero 20, sinabi nito na ‘nilamon’ ng travel allowances, insurance at  miscellaneous expenses ang PRF.

Ayon kay de Lima malinaw na paglabag sa Philipine Passport Act of 1996 kung ang PRF ay ginamit sa travel at transportation allowances ang pondo.

“At a time when the public coffers are most fragile, it is imperative that a thorough investigation into the consummation of the said acts that led to the depletion of the PRF be conducted, and that a stern warning be given in order to prevent the repetition of the wrongful disbursement of public funds, and the deflection of the same to any improper purpose,” sabi pa ni de Lima.
