Mambabatas nababahala sa ‘no face-to-face’ campaign sa 2022 elections

Nagbabala si House Committee on Constitutional Amendments Chairman Alfredo Garbin Jr sa mga hamong legal na kahaharapin ng planong ‘no face-to-face’ campaign sa 2022  elections.

Ayon kay Garbin, kung itutuloy ng Comelec ang pagbabawal sa face-to-face campaign kailangan munang amyendahan ang Republic Act 7166 na nagtatakda ng election campaigns and expenditures.

Dagdag pa nito, kailangan din aniyang pataasin ang pinapayagang campaign expenditure ng bawat kandidato at political party para mabigyan sila ng legal na basehan para gumastos sa ad campaigns sa TV, radyo at social media.

Sinabi pa niya maapektuhan din nito ang abilidad ng mga botante na kilatisin ang mga kandidato para sa kanila tama at matalinong pagboto.

Paalala ni Garbin, hindi lahat ng mga Pilipino ay mayroong internet at hindi rin lahat ay inaabot ng mga telebisyon at radyo kayat mababalewala lang ang madalas na ikampanya ng Comelec at election watchdogs na ‘vote wisely.’
