Mahigit 10,000 Overseas Filipinos nakauwi sa bansa nitong nagdaang linggo

Umabot sa 10,326 ang bilang ng mga Overseas Filipinos (OFs) na umuwi sa bansa nitong nagdaang linggo.

Sa datos ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), umabot na sa 265,111 ang napauwing OFs simula noong February 2020 sa ilalim ng repatriation program ng pamahalaan.

Sa nasabing bilang 83,866 ay seafarers (31.63%) habang 181,245 (68.37%) ay pawang land-based OFs.

Nitong nagdaang linggo, dalawang chartered flights ang bumiyahe sa Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at Dili, Timor Leste.

Ito ay para iuwi ang 374 na OFs, ang 60 ay mula sa Dili na stranded sa Timor Leste sa nagdaang mga buwan bunsod ng suspensyon ng operasyon ng commercial flights doon.

Ang 314 na OFs naman ay mula sa Riyadh na pawang distressed overseas Filipinos.

May mga umuwi ding OFs mula sa Laos, Myanmar, Iraq, UAE, Malaysia, Colombia, Syria, USA at Israel.

Kasama ding napauwi ang isang seafarer na dinukot at napalaya sa Equatoreal Guinea.
