SBMA, binuksan ang Subic hotels para sa returning OFWs
Binuksan ng Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) ang ilang hotel sa lugar upang magsilbing temporary accommodation ng mga pauwing overseas Filipino worker (OFW).
Ayon kay SBMA Chairman at Administrator Wilma Eisma, nasa 400 OFWs ang nabigyan na ng temporary lodgings sa quarantine hotels simula noong araw ng Linggo, November 1, nang maramdaman ang hagupit ng Bagyong Rolly sa Metro Manila at ilang parte ng Central Luzon.
“We took them in for humanitarian reasons—and subject to strict health protocols— because there was a storm coming and our kababayans would be trapped at the Clark airport otherwise,” pahayag ni Eisma.
Tumawag aniya ang Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) para humingi ng tulong dahil ang mga hotel sa Clark Freeport at Pampanga na accredited ng Department of Tourism (DOT) ay puno na.
Ani Eisma, humingi siya ng clearance mula sa local government units (LGUs) malapit sa Subic.
Isinasailalim sa swab testing ang returning OFWs sa Clark airport bago dalhin sa Subic quarantine hotels.
Ayon kay SBMA tourism manager Jem Camba, ang repatriated OFWs ay dinadala sa accredited accommodation establishments tulad ng Bayfront Hotel, Best Western Hotel Subic, Camayan Beach Resort, Horizon Hotel, Le Charme Suites, Mansion Garden Hotel, Segara Residencias, Subic International Hotel, Subic Bay Venezia Hotel, Terrace Hotel, Travelers Hotel, at Vista Marina.
Ang 13 hotels ay may kabuuang 528 rooms para sa OFWs sa dadaan sa quarantine protocols.
Kasunod ng pagdating ng repatriated OFWs sa kasagsagn ng Bagyong Rolly, sinabi ni Eisma na kokonsultahin ng SBMA ang mga kalapit na LGU kung payag silang ituloy ang naturang programa.
“I’d be inviting representatives from the LGUs, OWWA, the Task Group on the Management of Returning Overseas Filipinos, and owners of Subic hotels and other stakeholders to a meeting so that we can finally decide the matter,” dagdag pa nito.
Samantala, sinabi ni Eisma sa isang pulong na pumayag ang SBMA sa hiling ng LGUs na bigyan sila ng listahan ng mga empleyado mula sa kanilang komunidad na magtatrabaho sa quarantine hotels.
Ipinag-utos din ng SBMA sa hotels na manatilihin sa iisang lokasyon ang on-duty staff at isailalim sa quarantine kada tapos ng two-week work schedule.
“We will be taking all necessary health safety measures just like we did for the repatriation of Filipino seafarers under the crew-change program,” ani Eisma.
