Minority Leader Benny Abante, nagbitiw sa puwesto para sumama sa majority block

Ilang sandali bago ang Undas break ng Kamara, nagbitiw si Manila 6th District Rep. Bienvenido Abante bilang Minority Leader.

Sa kanyang turno en contra, sinabi ni Abante na iiwan niya ang naturang posisyon para sumali sa Mayorya at suportahan si Speaker Lord Allan Velasco at ang “pro-people” agenda nito.

Naniniwala aniya siya sa bagong liderato ng Kamara sa pagsusulong ng legislative agenda na hindi lamang pro-people kundi responsive din sa pangangailangan sa pagbibigay ng epektibo at sapat na interventions para ma-control ang COVID-19 pandemic.

Nagpasalamat naman si Abante sa mga miyembro ng Minority Bloc at sinabi na tiwala siyang “judiciously” na pipili ang mga ito ng kanilang susunod na lider.

Kasabay nito ay nagpapasalamat si Abante sa mga kasamahan niya sa Minorya.

Ani ni Abante, “tulad ng lagi kong sinabi, magkaiba man ang partido natin, o ang paniniwala natin, o ang idelohiya natin, there are more things that unite us, there are more advocacies we share, and there will always be one thing that will always bind us together: our desire to serve our people.”
