Online child exploitation cases tumaas sa ECQ sa Metro Manila

Pinuna ni Senator Sherwin Gatchalian ang paglobo ng bilang ng Online Sexual Exploitation of Children o OSEC nitong mga nakalipas na buwas habang naka-focus ang lahat sa paglaban sa COVID-19.

Base sa datos ng Office of Cybercrime ng Justice Department, simula noong Marso 1 hanggang noong Mayo 24, nakapagtala ng 279, 166 kaso ng OSEC at ayon kay Gatchalian ito ay 264 percent na mas mataas kumpara sa naitala sa katulad na panahon noong nakaraang taon.

Kaya’t inihain ng senador ang Senate Bill No. 1794 para mas mapalakas ang Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012 para magkaroon ng gabay ang awtoridad at hudikatura sa pagtugon sa mga kaso ng human trafficking kasama na ang sexual exploitation, prostitution, forced labor, slavery, pagbebenta ng bahagi ng katawan at pornograpiya.

Nais din ni Gatchalian na magkaroon ng responsibilidad ang internet service providers at tourism-oriented establishments sa pagpigil at pag-ulat ng trafficking cases.

Inihirit din nito sa kanyang panukala na palakasin ang Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking at isama ang Deparments of Health, Information and Communications Technology, Transportation, gayundin ang NBI at OWWA.
