Sen. Villar, dismayado sa hindi pagtupad sa P450-M projects sa dairy industry

Hindi na nakapagpigil si Senator Cynthia Villar sa labis na pagkadismaya sa hindi pagpapatupad ng P450 milyong halaga ng dairy projects sa bansa.

Sa pagdinig ng pinamumunuan niyang Committee on Agriculture, kinumusta ni Villar ang sitwasyon ng dairy industry mula sa National Dairy Authority at Philippine Carabao Center, parehong pinangangasiwaan ng Department of Agriculture.

Ipinagdiinan ng senadora na halos tatlong dekada na ang dalawang ahensiya ngunit aniya, 99 porsyento ng dairy demand ng Pilipinas ay nagmumula pa sa ibang bansa.

“This means we have been missing the opportunity to make our kababayan, especially the farmers, benefit from the dairy industry as a source of additional income and for our children to have access to affordable milk,” aniya.

Ibinahagi nito na noong 2018, ang produksyon ng gatas sa bansa ay 23.69 million liters lang ngunit ang pangangailangan ay umabot sa 2.34 billion liters.

Binanggit din nito na ang ulat ng Commission on Audit (COA) noong 2020 na halos walang pagbabago sa programa na nagkakahalaga ng P2.85 bilyon kayat hindi naman dumami ang bilang ng mga hayop na pinagkukunan ng gatas.
