House-to-house search sa COVID patients dapat pangunahan ng health care frontliners

Iginiit ni BHW Partylist Rep Angelica Natasha Co na dapat ipaubaya ng pamahalaan sa health care frontliners ng mga LGUs at mga barangay ang pagsasagawa ng house-to-house search ng mga asymptomatic COVID-19 patients.

Ayon kay Co, hindi sakop ng mandato ng PNP ang paghahanap, pag-screen at pagdadala ng mga pasyente sa mga isolation at treatment facilities kundi ito ay trabaho ng LGU quarantine teams at mga barangay health workers.

Wala din aniyang pagsasanay at expertise sa ganitong papel ang mga pulis.

Sa halip ay inirekomenda ni Co na gawing support system ang mga pulis kung kakailanganin partikular sa crowd control, peacekeeping at kaligtasan ng mga health care frontliners.

Iminungkahi ng kongresista na kung isasama ang mga pulis sa paghahanap ng mga asymptomatic patients ay huwag silang magdala ng armas o sumakay sa armored vehicles kundi magdala lamang ang mga ito ng face shields, face masks at tanging baton lamang ang dapat na bitbit sakaling kailanganin na pakalmahin ang sitwasyon.

Umapela din si Co na mabigyan ng PPEs, mabakunahan ng anti-flu at bigyan ng hazard pay ang mga frontliners lalo na ang mga barangay healthcare workers na sasabak sa house-to-house search sa mga COVID-19 patients.
