Mga korporasyon, hinikayat na magdonate ng online learning tools sa mga estudyante kapalit ng tax benefit

Hinimok ni House Committee on Basic Educatin and Culture Roman Romulo ang mga korporasyon na mag-donate ng online learning tools para sa mga estudyante sa public elementary at high school kapalit ng tax incentives.

Ayon kay Romulo, sa ilalim ng Adopt-a-School Program (ASP), maaaring ibawas sa gross taxable income ng donors ang hanggang 150 percent ng halaga ng kanilang kontribusyon.

Inihalimbawa nito na ang business process outsourcing companies ay maaaring mag-donate ng bago o secondhand desktop computers, laptops o tablets habang ang mga nasa telecommunications ay pwedeng mag-sponsor ng data plans.

Sabi ng kongresista, meron nang guidelines ang DepEd sa pagtanggap at pag-proseso ng applications para makapag-avail ng tax benefits ang private donors sa ilalim ng ASP.

Naniniwala ang mambabatas na makatutulong ang Adopt-a-School Program para mapunan ang mga pangangailangan para sa blended learning ng Department of Education.

Ang ASP ay itinatag noong 1998 sa pamamagitan ng Republic Act 8525, na layong pagalawin ang private funds sa pagtugon sa mga kakulangan sa sistema ng edukasyon.
