Higit 31,700 OFWs na na-repatriate, nakauwi na sa mga lalawigan

Nakauwi na sa iba’t ibang lalawigan ang mahigit 31,700 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) na na-repatriate ng Overseas Worker Welfare Administration (OWWA).

Sa Laging Handa press briefing, sinabi ni OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac na nasa 25,002 ang na-repatriate mula May 25 hanggang 31.

Maliban dito, 6,700 pang OFW ang nakauwi mula June 1 hanggang 5.

Karamihan aniya sa mga apektadong OFW ang kabilang sa cruise ship industry kung saan 25,000 na ang nakauwi.

Ani Cacdac, pansamantala lang mawawalan ng trabaho ang mga OFW dahil sinabi aniya ng mga employer ng cruise ship na ire-rehire ang lahat oras na magbalik-operasyon na.

Samantala, umabot naman sa 18,000 ang mga apektadong land-based OFW.
