Mahigit 190,000 na OFWs na nawalan ng trabaho sa iba’t ibang mga bansa piniling huwag umuwi ng Pilipinas ayon sa DOLE

Mayroong 191,000 mula sa 340,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) na nawalan ng trabaho dahil sa pandemic ng COVID-19 ang piniling manatili sa mga bansang kanilang pinagtatrabahuhan.

Ayon kay Labor and Employment Sec. Silvestre Bello III, umaasa ang nasabing mga OFWs na makahahanap pa sila ng trabaho sa sandaling humupa na ang pandemic.

Sinabi ni Bello na inaasahan sana nilang aabot sa mahigit 42,000 na OFWs ang uuwi sa bansa ngayong Huno pero base sa ulat ng mga labor attachés mayroon lamang 16,679 ang kumuha ng permits.

Ang mga OFWs na umuwi dito sa bansa ay maari aniyang mai-hire sa ilalim ng Build, Build, Build program ng pamahalaan.
