Pangulong Duterte, itinalaga si Vice Admiral George Ursabia bilang ika-27 Commandant ng PCG

Itinalaga ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte si Vice Admiral George Ursabia Jr. bilang ika-27 Commandant ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

Sa appointment paper na pirmado ng pangulo, papalitan ni Vice Admiral George Ursabia Jr. bilang PCG Commandant si Admiral Joel Garcia na nagretiro sa June 1.

Nagsimula ang military career ni Ursabia taong 1983 nang pumasok sa Philippine Military Academy (PMA) at nagtapos bilang miyembro ng “Hinirang” Class of 1987.

Sa mahigit 36 taong serbisyo, humawak na si Ursabia ng iba’t ibang tungkulin sa Philippine Navy at PCG.

Si Ursabia ay naging Commander ng PCG – Marine Environmental Protection Command, Commander ng Coast Guard Districts sa Central Visayas, Palawan, Southeastern Mindanao, at Northern Luzon, at Commander ng Coast Guard Ready Force at Staff for Maritime Safety Affairs.

Naniniwala si Garcia na maipagpapatuloy ni Ursabia ang magandang pagbabago bilang lider ng PCG.

“I know that VADM Ursabia will continue the significant developments that as a leader at the helm, must geared upon for the greater benefits of the Command,” pahayag ni Garcia.

Nagsisilbi rin si Ursabia bilang Commander of the Task Group Laban COVID-19 Water Cluster sa gitna ng paglaban sa COVID-19.
