Lifestyle check hindi batayan ng pagiging unethical ng kawani o opisyal ng gobyerno – DOJ

Kumbinsido si Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra na hindi maaaring husgahan ang isang kawani o opisyal ng pamahalaan batay sa isinagawang lifestyle check sa kanila.

Sinabi ng kalihim na maaari lamang na indikasyon ito ng komisyon o paggawa ng unethical na gawain ng public servant subalit hindi naman aniya ito conclusive.

Ginawa ni Guevarra ang paglilinaw bilang tugon sa pahayag ni Senator Rissa Hontiveros na isalang sa lifestyle check ang mga personnel ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) na isinasangkot sa pastillas scheme na naniningil ng sampung libong piso bilang service escort sa mga dumarating na chinese sa airport.

Inihayag din ng kalihim na suportado niya ang rekomendasyon ng senadora laban sa mga pinagsususpetsahang tiwaling kawani ng Bureau of Immigration (BI).

Gaya aniya ng pagsuporta niya sa pag-iimbestiga sa pamumuhay ng mga kinukuwestiyong empleyado at opisyal ng BIR, Bureau of Customs(BOC) at iba pang kawani ng gobyerno.
