WATCH: Notice of termination sa VFA, naipadala na ng Pilipinas sa pamahalaan ng Amerika

Kinumpirma ng Palasyo ng Malakanyang na pinirmahan na naipadala na ng pamahalaan ng Pilipinas sa Amerika ang notice of termination sa Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA).

Ayon kay Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo, inatasan na ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte si Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea na pagsabihan si Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin na pirmahan at ipadala ang notice of termination sa pamamagitan ng U.S. Embassy.

“The President directed the Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea to tell Secretary Teddy Boy Locsin of the Foreign Affairs to send a notice of termination to the US government last night and the Executive Secretary sent the message to Secretary Teddy Boy Locsin and the latter signed the notice of termination… and sent to the US government today,” ani Panelo

Paliwanag ni Panelo, hindi na kinakailangang umayon pa ng Amerika para mapawalang bisa ang VFA.

Mapapawalang bisa ang VFA matapos ang 180 araw na matanggap ng Amerika ang abiso ng Pilipinas.

Sa tweet naman ni Locsin, sinabi nito na natanggap na ang Amerika ang notice of termination ng Pilipinas.

Nagpasya si Pangulong Duterte na ibasura ang VFA dahil sa pakikiaalam ng Amerika sa panloob na usapin ng Pilipinas gaya ng hirit na palayain si Senador Leila de Lima.

Ikinagalit rin ng pangulo ang pasya ng Amerika na pagbawalang makapasok sa kanilang bansa ang mga opisyal ng pamahalaan na nasa likod ng pagpapakulong ni de Lima pati na ang pagkansela sa U.S. visa ni Senador Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
