DA nagbigay ng go signal sa importasyon ng 35K metriko toneladang pulang sibuyas

Pinayagan ng Department of Agriculture (DA) ang pag-angkat ng bansa ng pulang sibuyas sa Pebrero para mapababa ang presyo nito.

Sa pulong balitaan araw ng Biyernes, sinabi ni Agriculture Sec. William Dar na aabot sa 35,000 metriko toneldang pulang ibuyas ang iaangkat.

Kailangan anya itong gawin para mapunan ang dalawang buwang production gap sa bansa.

“These red onions can only be brought in up until mid-February so that it will not be in competition with the main harvest time starting March,” ani Dar.

Batay sa pinakahuling datos ng Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) noong Disyembre, naa P195 kada kilo ang wholesale price ng pulang sibuyas.

Sa supermarkets at groceries naman, pumapalo sa P150 hanggang P200 kada kilo ang presyo.
