Batas para sa P2,000 SSS pension hike, tinutulan ni Pangulong Aquino

VetoHindi inaprubahan ni Pangulong Benigno Aquino III ang batas na magkakaloob ng dagdag na pension sa mga retiradong miyembro ng Social Security System (SSS).

Sa kaniyang liham sa Senado at Kamara, sinabi ng pangulo na nagpasya siyang i-veto ang House Bill Number 5842 o ang panukalang batas na magdaragdag sana ng P2,000 sa buwanang pension ng mga retired SSS members.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Sonny Coloma, nababahala si Pangulong Aquino sa maaring maging epekto ng nasabing panukalang batas sa kabuuan ng SSS benefit system.

Bagaman pabor aniya ito sa dalawang milyong SSS pensioners at kanilang dependents, maari namang masakripisyo ang milyun-milyon pang SSS members. Sa datos ng SSS mayroon silang 31 milyong miyembro sa buong bansa.

Nakasaad pa sa liham ng pangulo sa senado at kamara na ang P2,000 dagdag sa pension ng bawat retiree ay mangangahulugan ng P56 billion kada taon.

Ang taunang investment income aniya ng SSS ay P30 billion hanggang P40 billion.

“..the proposed pension increase of P2,000.00 per retiree, multiplied by the present number of more than two million pensioners, will result in a total payout of P56 billion annually. Compared against annual investment income of P30 billion – P40 billion, such total payment for pensioners will yield a deficit of P16 billion – P26 billion annually…,” ayon kay Pangulong Aquino.

Bukas ay nakatakda sanang mag-lapse into law ang nasabing panukalang batas.
