Scammer nagpanggap na si Abp. Palma; nakakulimbat ng halos P200k

Isang online scammer ang nagpanggap na si Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma at nakakuha ng aabot sa US$3,900 o halos P199,000 dahil sa panloloko.

Sa isang pahayag araw ng Lunes (Oct. 21) sinabi ni Palma na hindi siya nanghihingi ng donasyon.

“I do not ask and never solicit funds from different institutions/groups, nor does my staff without my prior knowledge, formal consent, and definite authorization,” ayon sa arsobispo.

Na-trace ang scammer na mula sa Nigeria.

Modus ng scammer na manghingi ng donasyon na ang minimum ay P70,000 dahil kailangan umano ng tulong-pinansyal ng arsobispo habang nasa Europa

Gamit ng scammer ang email address na [email protected] sa kanyang panloloko.

Dahil dito, pinayuhan ni Palma ang lahat na ipagbigay alam sa kanyang tanggapan sa numerong (032)2533382 at (032)2540951 ang iligal na gawain ng scammer.

Ayon kay Msgr. Joseph Tan, tagapagsalita ng Archdiocese of Cebu, isang kaibigan ni Palma ang naloko at nagbigay ng US$3,900 sa scammer.

“Please continue to inform the public not to give money to anyone claiming to solicit funds for Archbishop Palma for whatever purpose. Just yesterday a friend of Archbishop Palma admitted giving 3,900 dollars to the culprit,” ani Tan.
