Retirement privileges na pang-Chief Justice, matatanggap ni Seniior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio
Hindi man naging punong mahistrado ng Korte Suprema, tatanggap si Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio ng retirement privileges na gaya ng tinatanggap ng mga chief justice.
Ito ay matapos magpasa ng resolusyon ang mga kapwa niya mahistrado sa Korte Suprema na nagbibigay kay Carpio ng retirement privileges na kahalintulad ng ibinibigay sa nagretirong punong mahistrado.
Unanimous ang naging botohan ng Supreme Court justices para ibigay ang nasabing prebilihiyo kay Carpio sa kaniyang pagreretiro.
Sa testimonial lunch para kay Carpio sinabi ni retired Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban na marapat lamang itong ibigay kay Carpio na nanilbihan ng mahabang panahon bilang Associate Justice.
Si Carpio ay magreretiro sa Octo. 26 dahil sasapit na siya sa mandatory retirement age na 70.
Nanilbihan siya bilang associate justice ng Korte Suprema sa loob ng 18 taon.
Bilang most senior justice ay laging otomatiko na nominado si Carpio para maging Chief Justice.
Subalit hindi niya nakukuha ang pwesto, dahil ilang beses ding tinanggihian ni Carpio ang automatic nomination.
