Earthquake warning system mobile app inilunsad sa California

Inilunsad sa California ang kauna-unahang statewide earthquake warning system na maaring ma-access sa pamamagitan ng smart phones.

Hinimok ni Gov. Gavin Newsom ang mga residente na i-download ang app na ‘MyShake’.

Inilunsad ang mobile app kasabay ng paggunita sa anibersaryo ng “Loma Prieta earthquake” na naganap noong Oct. 17, 1989.

Ang California Earthquake Early Warning System, ay gumagamit ng daan-daang seismic sensors para ma-detect ang fast-moving seismic P-waves mula sa malalaking lindol.

Gamit ang naturang teknolohiya, kayang mabigyan ng warning ang mga residente, 20 segundo bago tumama ang pagyanig.

Ayon kay Newsom, sapat na ang nasabing oras para maisarado ang mga pinagmumulan ng gasolina o utility transmission lines, at mabuksan ang elevator doors.
