Pagdaragdag sa budget para sa polio vaccine sa 2020, igigiit ng Kamara sa bicam

Maninindigan ang Kamara na ipaglaban sa bicameral conference committee ng panukalang P4.1-trillion 2020 national budget ang pagdaragdag sa pondo ng Department of Health (DOH) para sa polio vaccination.

Ayon kay House Deputy Majority Leader Bernadette Herrera, sinabi nito na mahalagang madagdagan ang alokasyon sa polio vaccination upang ma-accomodate ang mga batang limang taon pataas.

Sa ngayon, limang taong gulang pababa lamang ang nabibigyan ng bakuna kontra polio alinsunod sa nakasaad sa Republic Act 10152 o ang Mandatory Infants and Children Health Immunization Act of 2011.

Sa bersyon ng 2020 General Appropriations Bill na inaprubahan ng Kamara noong Setyembre 20, dinagdagan ng P250 million ang alokasyon para sa polio vaccination sa susunod na taon, na kinuha mula sa Quick Response Fund ng Department of Health (DOH).

Una rito, humingi ang DOH ng karagdagang P800 million para sa pagbabakuna ng polio matapos na manumbalik ang naturang sakit sa Pilipinas noong nakaraang buwan.
