P2.4M halaga ng mga sigarilyo ipinuslit sa Zamboanga

Nasabat ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang 93 kahon ng mga sigarilyo na nagkakahalaga ng P2.4 million na ipinuslit sa Port of Zamboanga.

Katuwang ng BOC sa operasyon ang mga tauhan ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Task Force Aduana, Naval Intelligence and Security Group Western Mindanao (NISG-WM) at Naval Special Operations Unit (NAVSOU).

Isinagawa ang joint anti-smuggling operation sa karagatang sakop ng Istanbak, Lower Calarian, Zamboanga City.

Ayon kay BOC-Zamboanga District Collector Atty. Segundo Sigmundfreud Z. Barte Jr., nakatanggap sila ng impormasyon ukol sa smuggled na mga sigarilyo sakay ng MJ Champion, isang bangkang gawa sa kahoy na kilala sa tawag na “Jungkung” na galing sa Jolo, Sulu at papunta sa Magay at Sta. Cruz Public Market sa Zamboanga City.

Naglabas ng Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) laban sa mga puslit na sigarilyo para sa paglabag ng Executive Order No. 245 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).

Parehong hakbang ang isinagawa laban sa bangkang MJ Champion dahil sa pag-transport ng smuggled cigarettes.

Ayon sa otoridad, maaaring galing sa Malaysia at Indonesia ang kontrabando.
