OFW galing Saudi Arabia nakitaan ng sintomas ng MERS-CoV

June 9 MersCOv dot netSinusuri ngayon ang kondisyon ng isang Overseas Filipino worker (OFW) na galing sa Saudi Arabia matapos makitaan ng sintomas ng Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) pag-uwi sa Pilipinas.

Itinuturing ngayong ‘person under investigation’ o PUI ng Department of Health (DOH) ang nasabing OFW.

Ayon kay Dr. Jessie Glen Alonsabe, Regional Epidemiologist ng Department of Health sa Western Visayas, standard operating procedure na isailalim sa PUI ang isang indibidwal lalo na kung ito ay may history ng biyahe sa Middle East countries.

Ang 59 anyos na OFW ay nagtatrabaho bilang construction supervisor sa Saudi Arabia.

Dumating siya sa Capiz noong Dec. 30, 2015 pero dinala ito sa pagamutan sa Iloilo noong January 3 matapos magkaroon ng lagnat at ubo.

Kinuhanan na ng swab samples ang pasyente na ipinadala naman sa Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) para masuri.

Ayon sa DOH-Region 6, negatibo sa MERS-CoV ang resulta ng paunang pagsusuri sa swab samples, pero sasailalim pa aniya ito sa panibago pang pagsusuri upang makatiyak.
