Navy warship sasailalim sa ‘endurance test’ bago ang deployment

Isasailalim ng Philippine Navy ang bagong bili nitong warship na BRP Conrado Yap sa isang “endurance test” kung saan iikot ito sa mga karagatang sakop ng Pilipinas.

Ayon kay Navy chief Vice Adm. Robert Empedrad, iikot ang BRP Conrado Yap sa bansa para masuri kung handa na ito.

Kabilang sa pupuntahan ng barko ang Palawan, Cebu, Mindanao, silangang bahagi ng bansa kabilang ang Philippine Rise.

Sunod na dadalhin ang warship sa West Philippine Sea o sa bahagi ng Mindanao kapag handa na ito sa deployment.

Kasama ang Mindanao sa deployment dahil sa banta ng terorismo sa rehiyon.

“We can deploy her to the West Philippine Sea, Wescom (Western Command) area. Dalawa lang ang pwede [It’s either], Wescom or Mindanao. Sa Mindanao, kung may gumalaw na terorista or threats, very accurate, automated ang baril. Tatama kahit sa napakaliit na barko na dumadaan,” ani Empedrad.

Binili ng Pilipinas sa South Korea ang BRP Conrado Yap na itinuturing ngayon na “most capable warship” ng Philippine Navy.
