Duterte bukas sa muling paggamit ng Dengvaxia kontra dengue

“I’m open in the use of Dengavxia again. Maraming patay na, it’s an epidemic.”

Yan ang naging tugon ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kaugnay sa patuloy na pagtaas ng bilang ng mga nagkakaroon ng dengue sa bansa.

Sa isang ambush interview sa Malacanang, nilinaw ng pangulo na kailangan lamang matiyak na ligtas ang paggamit sa nasabing bakuna kontra dengue.

“Ako, I’d rather go on the side of science. If nobody would believe me, still I would say that if there is anything there in the Western medicine and even itong herbal ng mga Oriental if it would man saving people’s lives, I’ll go for it,” dagdag pa ng pangulo.

Binigyang-diin rin ng pangulo na kailagang dumaan sa masusing pagsusuri kung sakali mang magdesisyon ang pamahalaan na muling gamitin ang kontrobersyal na bakuna.

Ayon pa sa pangulo, “I want to hear the words of the experts, doctors. And we have enough bright people here to tell us. I do not need foreigners to tell me, my own Filipino scientists and doctors would tell me what to do. I will be guided by their announcements.”

Sa pinakahuling tala ng Department of Health (DOH), umaabot na sa 146,062 ang mga nahawa ng dengue samantalang 622 naman ang naitalang patay.

Nauna nang sinabi ni Health Sec. Francisco Duque na magdedesisyon sila sa susunod na dalawang linggo kung muling gagamitin ang Dengvaxia bilang bakuna sa dengue.
