Dela Rosa, inulan ng batikos dahil sa kanyang ‘sh*t happens’ remark

Umaani ng batikos mula sa human rights defenders ang naging pahayag ni Sen. Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa na sadyang nangyayari ang pagkamatay ng ilang inosente sa police operations.

Ayon sa Human Rights Watch (HRW), ang pahayag ng senador ay kawalan ng pakialam at insulto sa pagkamatay ni Myca Ulpina at ng marami pang batang nasawi sa war on drugs ng gobyerno.

Si Ulpina ay ang tatlong taong gulang na batang namatay sa buy-bust operation ng pulisya sa Rodriguez, Rizal.

Ayon sa HRW, ang napapaulat na nakatakdang pag-upo ni Dela Rosa bilang chairman ng Senate committee on public order and illegal drugs ay isang pagyurak sa mga biktima ng giyera kontra droga.

Hindi umano malayang maiimbestigahan ni Dela Rosa ang pananagutan ng mga awtoridad at hahayaan na lamang na magpatuloy ang patayan.

“His contempt for the victims of the drug war makes his reported chairmanship of the Senate committee on public order and illegal drugs a travesty. It also suggests that he cannot be expected to independently investigate the conduct of law enforcers, let alone the killings themselves,” ayon sa HRW.

Sinabi naman ni Human Rights lawyer Atty. Chel Diokno na ang pagkakasawi ng mga inosente ay dahil pinaiiral ng gobyerno ang karahasan imbes na ipatupad ang due process.

“No, Sen. Bato, this is not “shit happens.” This happens when gov’t dispenses justice from guns instead of courts. Those responsible can never wash their guilt away. Their day of reckoning will come,” ani Diokno.

Binatikos naman ni dating Solicitor General Florin Hilbay si Dela Rosa sa naging pahayag nito at hindi dapat ganito anya ganito mag-isip ng isang mambabatas.

Pinapatunayan lamang umano ng pahayag ni Dela Rosa ang kawalan ng pananagutan ng mga alagad ng batas.

“This is not the kind of mindset a legislator should encourage for policemen. This thinking breeds unnecessary harm and pain on citizens. It also justifies evasion of responsibility and accountability. Batohin ng S**t ang mga ganitong mag isip,” ani Hilbay.
